Please provide feedback for my new story?

When the sun slowly lowers itself behind the Gillian family’s gargantuan mansion, I know it is the time my mother keeps a critical eye on every move I make according to that schedule she’s made for me. There’s the chores first, homework second, family time third, then, if I’m lucky enough, relaxing time last. I don’t quite get why the schedule includes family time. When I am with my family, it is always a burden to hear what a lousy job on how I loaded the dishwasher or cleaned up the family dog’s droppings. But mother doesn’t know that daily I’ve “accidentally” been using dear old Charlie’s untouched wastes to create a master plan of revenge. Some day she’ll find out that this schedule she’s made for me is practically my whole life, which might as well be a chore in itself that I must complete every day.
I stopped gazing out my window at the deep ruby hue streaked across the dusk sky. The sun had found its place to rest once again resigning for my only pleasurable company for the day. I picked up a pencil at my desk and started to frantically read and underline important parts of one geometry problem out of twenty two to finish it before my deadline of 5:30. My wearied eyes uselessly repeated the question over and over again. What was the difference between complementary and supplementary again? What diagram to the right?
“Audrey?”
I jumped from my desk chair and unlocked my bedroom door. There couldn’t be anything wrong with my performance for today’s chores; I’d made sure that the dishes were sparkling clean today and that Charlie didn’t get fed too much to make my job easier. I swung open the door, surprised that it was my younger sister Davina awaiting my reaction eagerly. She giggled.
“I wanted to see your face expression when you open the door. Normally you would coward away when it’s either mom or dad at the door. Think you got in trouble for something? You should see your face right now!” Her toothy smile convinced me enough that it was time for me to slam the door in her face.
Even at age 11, my sister was pampered with unimaginable blessings. Privileges, rather. She didn’t have a schedule to go by or limited shower time. She already had make-up and “Special Saturdays,” which mom would take her to the mall to buy whatever clothes she wanted. Now Davina showed off the result of Crest Whitening strips’ finished work on her teeth.
I slowly shut the door, but Davina slipped her fat hand between the space to prevent me from privacy. “I want you to make me those double hot fudge brownies in the pantry tonight for a snack.” she leaned in closely to me and I got an unbearable whiff of her new perfume.
“You can’t order me around,” I protested. “Especially since I’m five years older than you.”
“But you’re forgetting one thing,” Davina said as she flung my door back and entered the room. She spotted the blank white sheet next to my geometry book. “I’m mom’s favorite. If you don’t make those brownies for me, I’ll…I’ll tell mom and dad that you didn’t complete your homework on time!”
Of course she’d use that excuse. It was her only excuse her little brain could possibly think of to get her own way. The way I interpreted it was that I was my young alcoholic mother’s first child. I guess I must have been a hassle as a small child that developed her dislike for me. She married another man in March five years ago following Davina’s birth. Mother’s life was pleasant and sober then. It all depends on who you spend your time with throughout life. A small child was the only support she had for being an alcoholic five years ago. Now she had it all: Beautiful Davina and her wonderful husband, Branson Danley. I was just one extra mouth to feed, another economic loss, another pest.
I stared into Davina’s full-sized, round, chocolate brown eyes, almost hidden by her plump rosy cheeks. All her requests had to deal with delicious food made on her time. My little sister crossed her arms across her chest with feet planted firmly on the ground. Davina’s height only made it up to my chest. I took my over averaged height for granted sometimes.
“I must remind you again that you’re only eleven,” I said, standing up straighter to increase her respect and even fright of me. Davina stepped back slightly.
“So are you going to make those brownies or not?” She asked softly.
“ No. I have better things to do than make you even plumper than you are right now.”
Davina, obviously hurt by my comment, immediately bellowed, “MO-OM!”
I grabbed her by the shoulders and covered her mouth hoping she would get the message I was afraid to request of her. She had the nerve every time to panic me by wiggling in attempt to be free from my tightening grasp. “Okay,” I hissed. “I’ll make you brownies tonight. Just don’t tell mom about this, okay?” I released my grip on her.
Davina smiled at me again. “If you add extra fudge for the toppings then I won’t tell mom.”
I rolled my eyes then nodded. My response seemed to satisfy her, for she exited from my room with another glance at my open geometry book. I heard mother coming up the stairs and quickly shut and locked the door behind her. So that’s how dear Davina will play the game as the favored one. I remembered that I missed corner spot in Charlie’s pen that had his droppings piled up. With such a daring thought, I couldn’t suppress a smile that crept on my lips as I sat back down on the desk’s chair. First I’d have to finish geometry in enough time to make my little sister’s “interesting” dessert.
An added summary to the book: Audrey Danley leads anything but a normal life. Previously attempted to be aborted by her eighteen year old mother, her survival broke the plan. Now, as a mature sixteen year old, Audrey must face the truth of why she was constantly abused while an unwanted young child and even now in her teenage years. The truth can lead to actions. Actions can lead to character. Character leads to her destiny of life and what has become of it. [The book that doesn't have a title yet] takes readers into one girl’s world of pain, curiosity, and an adventure’s unexpected romance

Poltergeist in my dorm room?

I think there’s a poltergeist in my dorm. Now hear me out, this is what just happened to me this morning:

I finished taking a shower and went back to my room. I was the only one in my room. I spent about 30-45 min putting my clothes and shower stuff away, cleaning, and sorting my laundry. Sometime in the midst of all this, I took a bottle of lotion off my desk (that had been there for a few days) and put it on top of the bureau in my closet next to a bunch of other stuff. I distinctly remember doing this. A little while later, after packing more clothes, I was on my desk chair in front of my computer, leaning down under the desk to plug in my cell phone charger, when from above suddenly my lotion bottle fell right in front of my face. Note: I had to spend a few minutes plugging and unplugging cords to plug in my charger because my extension cord doesn’t have a lot of room. It was in the midst of doing this that it fell. I managed to catch it and I put it back. I was confused because I knew I had put it on my closet bureau on the opposite side of the room. I practically ran out of the room and into the lounge, not gonna lie. I wanted to tell the other girls on my floor about what just happened but I was worried they’d think I’m crazy.

I’ve never had anything that seemed paranormal happen to me like this. I’ve heard noises in my house before but I could always come up with a rational explanation. I have no non-supernatural explanation for this incident, though. What I find interesting too is the fact that the bottle fell right in front of my face when I was concentrating on sorting out my extension cord. It seemed like this poltergeist (assuming that’s what it is) did it to piss me off and maybe freak me out, and it definitely succeeded. Also, did the bottle fly across the room from my closet? I don’t know because I wasn’t looking in that direction when it happened.

Another thing: I live in a tower that has 22 floors, and I’m on the 21st. I’ve heard from other older students (I’m a freshman) that one or two people have jumped out of the window and killed themselves in the past, but I never actually heard it on the news or anything, and it happened a long time ago, so I don’t know if its just a rumor. I wouldn’t be surprised if it is true, though. I don’t know if the alleged suicides jumped out of my tower, because there are several other ones on campus and the people couldn’t tell me which tower it was.

I’ve also heard a few weird noises over the past few days that I discounted as just being other people, but now I’m not so sure.

Several days ago, I don’t remember when exactly, I was laying on my bed with my laptop when I heard noises coming from my roommate’s side of the room. They sounded vaguely like something shuffling on the floor, and like footsteps. I knew my roommate was not in the room, nor was anyone else. I was alone, so I logically assumed what I heard was coming from the hallway or one of the other dorm rooms on my floor. I have also heard, every few days and randomly, what sounds like someone slamming into my door, a "boom" noise. Once it happened when my sister and I were the only ones in my room, and she heard it too. We couldn’t figure out what it was exactly so we assumed it was someone out in the hallway hitting one of the other doors or something. Last night, I heard what sounded like my electric tea kettle boiling water, a humming "white-noise" sound, while I was trying to sleep. I assumed again that the noise, whatever it was, was coming from outside the windows, or from someone else’s room, even though it sounded like it was coming from close to my bed. I also heard vague banging coming from the ceiling and floor below me, although these I think were probably just people on the floors above and below me moving around and not anything paranormal.

All of the noises I’ve been hearing I’ve given logical explanations to. Only the "lotion incident" of less than an hour ago I cannot explain because I saw it clearly and knew that I put the bottle away only minutes before.

So, does this seem like poltergeist activity to you?

Do you have any advice for me?
